I'm going to go out on a limb here and actually say that T.O has a few more very productive years left...that is, if he is given a fair chance to prove himself in Cinci. They are a run first offense that likes to use the play action to get the ball down field, something Carson Palmer does very well. I really think Owens will turn some heads this year, I'm going to predict at least 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns. I would go higher on both figures if there wasn't such an attention seeking brat on the other side. But hey, Chad's got to get his, too.

When I think Bengals, I think defense first and foremost. They always play tight, low scoring games, the style of football I think is most conducive to winning in this league. Cinci will finish with 11 wins and lose in the second round of the playoffs.

Hey Josh,

As crazy as it may sound, I think the Bears can win 10 games this year, which could very well mean there will be three 10 win teams in this division. I don't even think the addition of Peppers is going to help as much as Jay Cutler feeling more comfortable in his second year as the Bears QB. The Bears played a lot of close games last year that could have gone either way. While he's old school and conservative, Lovie Smith knows how to win in this league. He's without a doubt a defensive minded coach, so as always I see their defense being their strength.

I just have a feeling this year that they're going to be much more efficient on offense. Forte should bounce back, and the relationship between Cutler and Hester will only get better as they head into year number two together. I actually see the Bears making some noise this year.

I agree with you here, Josh. I think the niners are a very solid team, and they play with a certain attitude (especially on defense) that signifies the smash mouth game that their head coach once embodied. Singletery is one mean dude, if he were my coach, I'd play hard for him.

But like you said, there offense is weak. They rely heavily on the run game, which isn't a bad thing, but with Alex Smith at the helm, they're unable to really stretch the field at all. I went to the niners eagles game last year, and I saw Smith make some atrocious throws. I'm really surprised this team didn't make a stronger push for McNabb this offseason. It seems like they're only a decent quarterback away from being legit. I still think they're good enough to win that division, though, even though it may only take 9 wins to do it.

you couldn't be more wrong Tom. I am actually a Giants fan which proves I do not have any bias towards any team. As much as I hate saying the cowboys will win the division, I just don't see the giants, eagles, or redskins being any better, hopefully i'm wrong and the giants will win the division. As far as it goes now the cowboys are the best team in the division, that may change by mid-season.

You made it pretty obvious that you are a Cowboy fan. You were pretty sneaky with your comments on the other 3 teams in the division. As I was reading I was thinking to myself..."perhaps not the best analysis I've read but fair enough for an amateur". Then I got to your thoughts on the Cowboys, and immediately I knew...we have a biased Cowboy fan here. While they may finish first in the division, your description of individual talent is overwhelming. "Austin's speed is unstoppable"; Austin will be triple covered all game"; "then of course there's the 3 headed monster at RB"; "all 3 of these guys would be starters on other teams"

Two words..."GET REAL"

Austin is a nice talent who had a breakout year last year. Let's see if he can duplicate that before we go placing triple coverage on him. For now a shut down corner or a double team will do.

As for the so called 3 headed monster at running back and all being starters on another team...Not one of them rushed for 1000 yards last year. All 3 combined for a total of 13 TD's. Barber has made no progess in his game over the last few years, Jones should just try to stay healthy for once, and Choice should be happy with what he is..."occasional lightning in a bottle".

I suggest you put your favoratism aside if you are going to offer to write a constructive column on all 32 teams. Nobody wants to hear how great the Cowboys are when they haven't accomplished ANYTHING in 15+ years.

Sincerely,
Tom

It's one of those trades that are so bad that gets numerous mentions throughout the MLB season. What makes it even worse is that when the Expos traded him in 2003, their return was Rocky Biddle (who sported an ERA approaching 7.00 in his two seasons in Montreal) and Jeff Liefer (who spent a total of 35 games with the Expos, batting .177).

Good post. I was glad to see Dustin Pedroia not in the top 5. I know he's been injured for the last month, but normally he gets the benefit of the doubt too often. I think he is very over-rated. I still think he's a very good second basemen, but he didn't deserve to win the MVP in 2008. .326 for a hitter without special power numbers or a ton of stolen bases, or even a phenomenal on-base percentage for that matter, doesn't cut it for me as far as MVP's go.

3) Brandon Marshall got paid and is happy. That is all he wanted in Denver. He isn't on dancing shows and running his own iPod App. He made a guy named Kyle Orton look like a star year.
